The Director – Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) is a newly created, highly visible role serving as a key member of the management team and reporting directly to the CFO. The Director – FP&A provides valuable analytics and insight partnering with the Controllership, Commercial Operations, Legal, and others. 

Full Description Key responsibilities include ownership of budgeting, forecasting, business modeling, valuation, cash management, investment analysis, and reporting including Board and Investor materials and other ad hoc reporting for the senior leadership team. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assists the CFO in the annual strategic planning process and adds value by identifying new opportunities for the business and new ways to view the existing business
  • Provides financial guidance, analysis and reporting to support recommendations that lead to informed and effective business decisions
  • Manages all activities related to the annual budgeting process
  • Provides monthly, quarterly, and annual variance analysis
  • Reviews and updates the forecast quarterly based on actual results and changes in business assumptions and strategy
  • Prepares Audit Committee and Board presentations and back-up materials
  • Supports Investor Relations activities.
  • Owns cash management and other treasury functions
  • Provides support and oversees analysis for execution of capital markets activities and transactions
  • Compiles competitor and industry data for use in analyses, trend detection, and strategy development.
  • Serves as Finance liaison with Business Development to assist in the preparing operating and valuation models for new opportunities and to support due diligence and transaction execution
  • Partners with the Controllership to ensure close alignment of financial analysis and finance operations
  • Builds strong relationships with other key operating departments including Research, Development, Business Operations, Business Development, Project Management, Commercial, Legal and other functional departments
  • Represents Finance on various Project Management teams

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required
  • Master’s degree in Finance, Business or related field preferred
  • Minimum of ten to fifteen years of Financial Planning and Analysis experience at a large and/or public manufacturing company required
  • Prior experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry preferred.

 Supervisory Responsibilities: The Director – Financial Planning and Analysis is an individual contributor role with potential to expand the team to meet the growth and needs of the Company


  • Demonstrated competence to handle a wide range of finance related responsibilities
  • Strong background in forecasting, valuation and capital markets
  • Demonstrable knowledge of financial accounting

 Computer Skills:

  • Must be proficient in MS Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel and Analytical tools like Microsoft Power BI

 Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: MBA preferred

 Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Foundational finance and accounting knowledge
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills
  • Proficiency in data mining and data extraction
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • The ability to understand the business models of the organization and its link to strategy
  • Demonstrated experience working with and presenting to senior level management
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are essential
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task successfully in a fast paced environment
  • Manage both day-to-day operations as well as project work
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team setting
  • Strong problem solving and consensus building skills
  • Ability to work with and protect highly confidential information
